A luxurious boutique hotel designed by Oscar de la Renta with a serene, romantic atmosphere
If you’re looking for luxury, VIP treatment, and boutique intimacy in Punta Cana, the Tortuga Bay Hotel is the clear winner. Some of Santo Domingo’s chicest accommodations can be found at Oscar de la Renta’s (a local legend born in nearby Santo Domingo) designed property.
For maximum privacy, all of the rooms are located in one or two separate, canary yellow buildings. Furniture and décor are dominated by dark wood, marble flooring, and island-inspired accents. A wicker canopy tops the four-poster beds. Combined with framed drawings of leaves and fish, Rattan chaise armchairs look elegant. There is a tastefully tropical aesthetic to the look. Each of the 30 suites features jetted tubs, beautifully appointed bathrooms, personal butlers, and ocean-view balconies.
Every amenity, from the white-sand beach to the hotel’s free airport transfers and expedited immigration service to its world-class spa, is of the highest quality. Rooms are equally luxurious as the hotel’s amenities. One of the most appealing parts of this resort is its semi-private beach. There isn’t much space, but it’s more than enough for the few guests to spread out. Almost any time of the year, the turquoise waters are calm enough for swimming or snorkeling. Kayaks and paddleboards can be rented for free.
Tortuga Bay guests have access to additional amenities at Puntacana Resort & Club, where the hotel is located. The Westin Puntacana Resort & Club offers a number of restaurants, beaches, and other facilities for guests at Tortuga Bay. At Six Senses Spa, you’ll find a wide range of massage and beauty treatments as well as hydrotherapy rooms, saunas, and a private pool. Tortuga is surrounded by Pete Dye’s 18-hole La Cana golf course, which is part of the Punta Cana Estates complex. The course has been highlighted in “Golf Digest” because 14 of its 18 holes are along the ocean.
The suites come with golf carts and cruiser bikes. If there’s anything that will make guests balk here, it will most likely be the price and lack of entertainment in the evening
